The University set up various awards to recognize and honor the staff who have demonstrated exceptional skills and dedication in their teaching and research, including the Teaching Excellence Award, Teaching Achievements Award, and Research Award.
The "Teaching Excellence Award" was established in 2008 and is awarded annually to honor and award teachers for their excellent teaching performance, ever-improving teaching standards, and significant contribution to enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in the University; it also provides incentive and encouragement for junior faculty members.
The Teaching Excellence Awards Guidance Handbook is made available internally to facilitate the application and nomination process.
Besides to the monetary prizes, the names of the winners are inscribed on the Honors Board for permanent display. This demonstrates the great importance attached to the quality of teachers and teaching by the University, as well as its commitment to offering the best quality education for students.
University teaching and learning activities involve various aspects such as making innovations in teaching philosophy, reforming the mechanism for nurturing talents, cultivating teaching teams, optimizing teaching and curriculum structures, enhancing on pedagogies, updating teaching materials, building up mechanisms for quality assurance in teaching and learning, and reinforcing practical training, etc. In accordance with the University Strategic Plan to enhance teaching and learning, the University set up the "University Teaching Achievement Award" in the 2019/2020 academic year to recognize outstanding achievements by teachers and teaching teams in the aforementioned aspects, and to promote continuous innovation and high-quality development of teaching and learning activities in the University.
The "University Teaching Achievement Award" is evaluated once every two years. The awards include: First Prize (one), Second Prize (up to four); winner(s) of each prize will be awarded monetary reward and merit certificate. The "University Teaching Achievement Award Review Committee" will conduct the assessment and recommend to the University's Senate for confirmation. The monetary award and merit certificate are usually presented at the Opening Ceremony of the following academic year.

Research Awards include the BOC Research Excellence Award, LIB Academic Research Award, Incentive Measures for Publishing Papers in SCI/SSCI Journals, Best Research Output Award. These Awards acknowledges staff who have made significant contribution to research in their respective fields. This award recognizes their ability to conduct high-quality research, publish scholarly articles and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their discipline.
